Living Outside the Bounds of Which I was Bred
Oh, hello there! I’m Britt. A 30 something year old travel enthusiast with a lust fo people, places, an experiences. I’ve spent much of the last decade on the road, falling in love with life outside of the norm.
Where my story began
I have always been curious about the existence of life outside of my home county in the United States, however, I was held back by my own mental blocks and self doubt. “Can I do it on my own?”, “Is it safe?”, “Will I have enough money?”, “What will my family think?” It wasn’t until 2015, my first real trip outside of the U.S., that I was first introduced to the concept of solo travel and the idea of backpacking. I was presented with an opportunity to volunteer abroad in Guatemala with a company I worked for, allowing me to experience a new place with some of my closest friends. It was here that I felt like my eyes were open for the first time in my life. That there was so much more to merely working and existing. I was intrigued and inspired by the amount of travelers I was meeting from all corners of the world, most of which who were much younger than me. “How bizarre”, I thought. Followed by, “Could I do this?”
And the rest is history…
Nine months later I embarked on my first solo trip to Peru, sealing the deal. I returned home to the U.S. and decided I wanted more. I sold all of my possessions, packed a bag, and embarked on a journey through Central and South America, lasting about four years and providing valuable lessons about life and what it means to truly LIVE it. Since then I have developed a ferocious desire to see and experience more of this world, to meet all the unique and extraordinary humans that inhabit it, and plummet head first into the cultures that define them. Nothing can douse this fire.
